Alpha Beta and Delta

The Wonderful World of Animals

Alpha Beta has been investigating the animals and some of their characteristics: sounds, movements, size, colour, features among others.

Children have been enthusiastically participating by copying animals movements and incorporating them to their daily activities, such as hopping like a bunny on the hopscotch and walking on the line like lions.

Have a look on our latest works!

Alpha Delta
Alpha Delta has been investigating different animals that live in the sea.  They have had the opportunity to learn about the various species and have reproduced some of them in their own special way.
Children have also been exposed to videos of real live sea animals which has prompted them to question and inquiry about them. They were curious to know about their size, what they eat, if they have a nose and mouth like people and if they are “good” or if they bite!

Have a look at what they have been doing and learning!

Songs and Learning

Singing is a wonderful way to learn English. The lyrics and action movements are quickly imitated and before you know it, children are eagerly participating in the singing.
They just love to sing!
Below are the links to some of the songs that are most frequently played.

Look them up and sing along with your child and have some fun together!

Investigations in Alpha Sigma and Omega

Investigations in Alpha

In the second term our children have been bringing new elements for our classrooms.
With their input we chose a theme and together we are learning more and more.

Alpha Sigma

Alpha Sigma has chosen to know more about fruits.
We have had the opportunity to open some fruits, and explored them in different ways.
Their size, weight, smell, texture, taste... One of our favourite ways of learning is to observe what happens to their seeds after planting or putting them in the water.
Come to visit our classroom and see what has been happening to our experiments!!
I am sure you will also learn with us!!

Alpha Omega

Alpha Omega has been investigating "What is in our garden?".

After been asked what they thought  we would find in the school garden, children explored outdoor and discovered many interesting things. For an example they noticed we do not have frogs at school.

Collecting leaves, feathers, rocks and sticks they found on the floor is one of
their favourites activities.

They have been learning about living creatures that habitat our garden, finding little insects
and observing them.
They watched movies of  life cycle of many creepy crawler and the most
interesting for them were ants, worms, bees and and ladybirds.

Here are some pictures of their hard work...

The benefits of reading

to your child.

Reading to children is part of the Alpha’s routine.
They are encouraged to explore our book corner daily, leafing through books.

Some of their favourite books are: "The very hungry caterpillar", "Brown bear, brown bear", " The napping house", and "Goldilocks".
Since they are familiar with these stories, it is easier for them to retell them to their friends.

Reading at home also enhances children´s pleasure for reading.
It’s important that parents keep the habit of reading to their child giving continuity
to what happens at school.
You are more than welcome to visit our school library and choose some
books with your child!

Library is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily.

Carina Storrs, science and health journalist, wrote an article for CNN about the importance and benefits of reading and listening to stories since young age.
