“Fine motor” refers to the movements we make with the
small muscles of
the hands, usually in coordination
with the eyes.
Doing activities that involve fine motor movements are an
essential part of children’s
development. It is important to give children toys
and activities
that strengthen their hand muscles.
Toys and materials that require a child to
manipulate them with their fingers and hands
can be categorised as a
manipulative. As children refine their motor skills, they
are able to help
themselves by completing daily activities independently.
