SHAPES, SHAPES EVERYWHERE!

Look around you and what do you see?
All sorts of different shapes! In objects, in nature and in our surroundings.

The Alphas in their Pre-maths are learning to identify and name the main mathematical shapes which are; circle, triangle, star, heart, square and rectangle. Diamond,semi-circle and oval shapes will also be introduced.

Learning about shapes can be lots of fun and the Alpha pupils are proving to be engaged and interested in the subject! There are many different challenging ways to learn about this. Some are by sorting shapes; others are by gluing and pasting on a shape outline and others are by using various shaped building blocks to erect towers and constructions.

Games such as recognising and pointing out shapes in the environment is something that  parents can do with their children. "Look at the kitchen clock - what shape is it? What about the coffee table, the wheels of the bicycle??" This simple question and answer game will   boost your child´s self confidence and make learning so much more interesting.
Give it a try!

Here are some lovely example of works done by the Alphas.
